The Horizon Door Design is a simple design that can remain subtle or take on an entire personality of its own. The two primary areas of this design to consider are the center segment and the door hardware. While glass or metal can occupy the dominant segment, wood is an exceptional architectural material for this area.
Wood is a material unique from glass and metal in that it is warm and organic, and no two planks are the same. Wood stands forth and draws in the eye when introduced into an otherwise synthetic construction. The species of wood used in the Horizon pivot door design above is White Oak. White Oak is a strong and light-toned wood with some darker streaks. In addition to White Oak, we offer other hardwoods such as Walnut, Mahogany, and more. J. Cruz breaks down a client’s White Oak Horizon Door in the video above.
The second creative detail to consider is hardware. Hardware is an excellent way to guide the eye to a focal point and elevate the overall front door experience. The door pulls used in the door design above are the Antler Door Pulls. Sculpted by hand, our door hardware has the ability to transform any entryway.
Combining pivot doors across the same project is an ideal way to elevate other entryways in the home. Other doors in the home, such as that of a casita, have an opportunity to rise above sheer functionality. Using a simplified derivative of the front door on other areas of the home creates an experience that extends beyond the front door. Learn more about this option here.
